Navy JROTC College Prep

ACT / SAT are standardized exams that higher education institutions use to help determine admissions.  To better prepare students for admissions to our universities, the Peterson's Online Course for the ACT / SAT is provided free of charge to NJROTC students by the U.S. Navy.

At NJROTC cadets can access their online course to:

      - Take practice exams

      - Review tutorials

      - Focus on improving test taking strategies

The average Learning Path consists of about 50 lessons for the ACT and 60 lessons for the SAT.  The approximate time needed to complete all of the lesson in the Customized Learning Path plus the four tests (one pre-test and three full-length practice tests) is 40-hour hours for each course.

To prepare students for the SAT essay, the full-length practice tests and the diagnostic test in the course include essay prompts similar to those that they will see on the SAT.  Test scores include computer-generated essay scores along with specific tips for improvement.

Bishop Kenny NJROTC enrolls all of our students into the Peterson's ACT / SAT Prep Courses and provide computer class time during the normal NJROTC syllabus to help students complete the courses.

Freshman cadets will begin the ACT prep course beginning in the 1st quarter.  This is to help prepare them for the PLAN test which they take during the fall of their sophomore year at Bishop Kenny.  They should complete the ACT course prior to the end of the 1st Semester of their Sophomore year.  At that point they are given the option of enrolling in the SAT prep course to complete on their own.  We highly recommend that all students complete both courses.
